James Robert Luft, age 59, of Mars, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 while under the care of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born May 27, 1957 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late James F. Luft and is survived by his mother, Dolores A. (Woistman) Luft of Mars.
Catholic by faith, Jim proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard. He was the founder and president of SSI Incorporated located in Cranberry Twp. Jim was a proud business owner but also enjoyed a good party. He was known for his generosity and kindness towards others, always putting people before himself and helping them any way he could. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Jean M. Luft, whom he married on November 22, 1980; his sons, Nicholas James Luft of Mars, and Brian James (Michelle) Luft, of Houston, TX; his siblings, Kenneth Luft and Denise (Patrick) Bell of Columbus, OH, and his nieces and nephews, Michelle, Matthew, Zach, Janeen, Ronald & Lauren.
Friends will be received on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 2-4 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. at the Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc., 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066.
Additional visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2017 from 2-4 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., with Fr. Andrew C. Fischer as Celebrant (Friends please meet at church).
Jim will be laid to rest at Mars Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made payable Duke University - 17BT, and mailed to Tisch Brain Tumor Center - Angels, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710 (www.angelsamongus.org).
