Obituary

Norman C Speak (Po) On January 14, 2017, Norman passed away peacefully at age 87. He was born February 10, 1929 in Lexington, Nebraska. He is survived by his High School sweetheart, Thresa, loving wife of 66 years. Family survivors include daughter Trudi Speak-Dusin and her husband Tom and son Steve and his wife Claudia Sue. Also, he was especially proud of his grandchildren Sam, Tara, Janae, and Tyler and his future twin great grandsons (Due in March). As a graduate of East High School in 1948, he was undefeated in wrestling, two time Colorado State Wrestling Champion and recipient of the John Hancock Award as outstanding wrestler at the 1948 Colorado State Wrestling Tournament. He was awarded a wrestling scholarship to the University of Denver where he earned a B.A. and Masters in Education. Norman worked for the Denver Public School System for 36 years as a teacher, counselor, wrestling coach and wrestling official. As a pioneer and a legend in the sport of water skiing he was a boat builder, ski builder, ski boat dealer (Colorado MasterCraft) ski lake owner/developer, and promotional representative for MasterCraft and Infinity Ski Boats. In the early 70’s his daughter Trudi competed in the prestigious Masters Water Ski Tournament on one of Norm’s home-made wood slalom water skis. Norm was especially proud of his son Steve, for continuing the wrestling legacy in the family. He stayed busy all year round with hobbies of trail bike riding, snowboarding, hunting, and all kinds of craft projects particularly leathercraft. Norm lived his life to the fullest everyday with a special love of the outdoors. He stayed busy year round until he finally lost his two year battle with CMML cancer. Norm was a private man with his faith, but never missed watching Billy Graham on television, where he gave his heart to Christ. He and his wife have been blessed to attend Crossroads Church in Northglenn Memorial service, Wednesday January 25th 11:00am at Crossroads Church 10451 Huron Street Northglenn, CO.
