Cody Richard Burtis

Cody Richard Burtis, 30, of South Beloit, IL, died at 4:46 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017 at home, he lost his hard fought battle with addiction. Born December 31, 1986 in Beloit, WI, the son of Tracy Burtis. He lived 30 years in the Beloit WI, South Beloit, IL area. He attended McNeal Middle School, and Parker High School and was working on his GED. He was employed as a laborer, for a cement contractor. He loved working with his hands doing cement work, landscaping, carpentry, and dry walling, in which he had several jobs. He loved listening to music any chance he got, loved fishing, drawing, working with computers, writing poems, working on cars/stereos, and reading. He thoroughly enjoyed animals, helping others, spending time with family and friends, and was naturally good with kids. Cody had a heart of gold and was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Survivors include mother Tracy Burtis; maternal grandfather Richard Burtis; brother Cole (Callie) Staskal; grandparents Ron (Barb) Ramquist; Mark Ramquist, whom Cody considered his father; uncle Daniel Burtis; aunts Bobbie (Larry) Campton; Rondi (Steve) Mengelt; cousins Krissy (Sean) Booth; Andy Campton; Jamie, Matt, Ashley and many close friends.. Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Janice Hendrickson; close friend Matt Adam Silvis; and his companion and pet Henny. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2017 at McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel,with Pastor Dave Fogderud of The Overflowing Cup Ministries officiating. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, IL from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to family.
