Barry E. Steele

<p>Barry Edwin Steele was born on February 24, 1948, in West Chester, PA. Barry was called home April 17, 2020 in Lansdowne, PA. He was the youngest son of the late Alfred T. Steele and Angelean Brison Steele.&nbsp;</p> <p>Barry attended the Gay Street School in West Chester, PA. The Steele family later moved to Kennett Square. Barry was a 1967&nbsp;graduate of the Kennett Consolidated High School.&nbsp; Soon after high school, Barry followed his brother and enlisted into the service.&nbsp; Barry was a proud Navy man. Upon returning he gained employment at the Lukens Steel Mill, Coatesville, PA where he later retired.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Barry had an enormous heart and throughout his life, he served and protected the ones he loved. After separating from his first wife the late Roxanne R. Steele, the mother of his children; he moved to Philadelphia where he met and married the late Mary Alice Dinkins Steele. They shared a beautiful marriage of 31 years until her death in 2014.</p> <p>Barry especially loved his grandchildren. He loved being able to spend time with them and take trips to the Philadelphia Zoo, and ferry&nbsp;rides from Penns Landing to the Aquarium in Jersey.</p> <p>Barry liked&nbsp;to listen to music and had a love for fine jewelry and could spot a diamond in the rough.</p> <p>Barry was predeceased by his son, Lance Edwin Steele; brothers: William, James, Robert, Milton, Kenneth, Andrea, Herbert; sisters: Mary Steele, Edith Randolph and Sandra Greene.</p> <p>He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Barry (Erin) Steele; daughters, Latisha (Dwayne) Wood and Adelle Steele (Victor); 8 grandchildren: D&rsquo;Andre Steele, Isaac Steele, Madeline Steele, Zachary Steele, Destyni Wood, Dyamand Wood, Juan Reyes, Jr. and Sami Reyes. He also leaves a legacy of love and loyalty with his surviving siblings, Ralph (Sharon) Steele of Wilmington, DE, David Steele of Hawaii; sisters, Alfreda Johnson of West Chester, Charlotte (Henry) Barrett of Wilmington DE as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.</p> <p>The family deeply appreciates every loving act of kindness extended during their time of bereavement.</p> <p>Graveside services with Military honors will be held at 11 AM, Friday, July 10, 2020 at Northwood Cemetery, 1501 Haines Street, Philadelphia, PA.</p>

Barry attended the Gay Street School in West Chester, PA. The Steele family later moved to Kennett Square. Barry was a 1967 graduate of the Kennett Consolidated High School.  Soon after high school, Barry followed his brother and enlisted into the service.  Barry was a proud Navy man. Upon returning he gained employment at the Lukens Steel Mill, Coatesville, PA where he later retired.
