David "Pete" Graham

David Wesley Graham, 86, passed away on January 14, 2017 surrounded by his entire family. He was called home to be with the Lord after a long life of joy and blessings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Ruby Graham; brothers, Earnest and Bill Graham; sisters, Louise Ray and Brenda Wooten. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lenora Graham; daughters, Linda Wilson and husband Fred, Glenda Brooks and husband Vernon; son, David Graham Jr. and wife Lola; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Mitchell and wife Ellen, Don and wife Nelly, Glenn and wife Jannis; sisters, Geneva Chaffin, Bonnie and husband Jo; several nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends. He was born in Latexo, Texas to Earnest and Ruby Graham. He played baseball and basketball growing up. He graduated from Slocomb High School in 1949. He met Lenora Pearl Graham at a “Ring Play” party hosted by a mutual friend. They dated, fell in love, and married January 7, 1950. Soon after, they moved to Houston where they spent their entire 67 years of marriage. In 1951 he became the proud father of two beautiful twin daughters, Linda and Glenda, and in 1959 he was blessed with a son to carry on his name, David Wesley Graham Jr. He loved to camp, play dominoes, watch sports, spend time with his dog, but most of all, he loved his family. He left a rich an enduring legacy. Family was what was important to him. He taught by example what it meant to honor God in raising your family and pointing them to Jesus. He came to know the Lord as a teenager and continued to serve him until the day he died. He was a deacon at Munn St. Baptist church for 47 years. He was a Master Mason at lodge 1290 for 51 years. He was a God- loving man, a good provider, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and friend to many. He had a contagious humor and a positive outlook on life. He was a ray of sunshine. If you ever ask how he was doing, he often replied, “I never felt better, had less, or wanted more.” Although the family mourns his loss, they celebrate his life and are comforted in knowing he is in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and one day, they will be reunited with him again. Friends are welcome to join the family for visitation at 10:00 a.m. before the funeral service which will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 in the chapel of Carter-Conley Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston Texas, under the direction of Carter-Conley Funeral Home.
