Ned Gilmore Hawkins

Ned Gilmore Hawkins, 86, born January 4, 1931 in Roseville, MI, passed away January 15, 2017 in Kalamazoo, MI. Ned was retired from the Pipefitters Local 333 and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member and past master of the Wacousta-Dewitt Masonic Lodge 359 F. &A.M., and member of the Wacousta Community United Methodist Church. Survivors include his three sons: Dan (Kellie) of Austin, TX, Ned (Sheila) of Kalamazoo and Mark of DeWitt; three grandchildren: Andrew Karl, Leandra (Michael) Burke, and Brandon (Chelsey) Bickford, one great grandson, Matthew, and sister Ruth Garrett. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Helen (2014), daughter Barbara Carlson, parents Harold Sr. and Ethel (Gilmore) Hawkins, and brother Harold T. Hawkins Jr. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 – 11:00 a.m. at the Wacousta Community United Methodist Church, 9180 Herbison Road, Eagle, MI 48822, with Rev. Lyle Heaton officiating. Military Honors will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home in Grand Ledge Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W.
