Velma L Detjens

Velma L Detjens, 82, Wausau, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 peacefully at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living, Mosinee, WI.She was born February 17, 1934 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Alvin and Evelyn (Beck) Borchardt.  On September 24, 1955, she married Eugene C. Detjens.Upon graduation from high school in Rhinelander, Velma moved to Wausau to go to work for Employers Mutual Company of Wausau. While working there, she attended night school at North Central Technical Institute, obtaining her Associate Degree in Accounting. She then went to work for Connor Forest Industries as an Accountant and eventually Assistant Corporate Controller. She served on the Board of Directors for Cloverbelt Credit Union for several years. Survivors include her sons, Michael E. Detjens (Lori), Timothy L. Detjens, Daniel H. Detjens, and daughter, Carole J. Fierek (Bill), one sister, Rosalyn Prasnicki (Roger), seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, twin sister, brother and one grandchild.Services will be held at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home on Friday, January 20, 2017 with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00.  On line condolences can be made at www.HonorOne.Com
