Lucy Wilson Bucyrus, Ohio Obituary

Lucy Wilson

Lucille M. Wilson, 96, of Bucyrus died peacefully Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Heartland of Bucyrus, three weeks after the death of her dear husband. She was born in Oceola, Ohio on October 10, 1920, the oldest child of the late John R. and Laura G. (Snavely) Dewiel. She attended a number of area schools and graduated from Holmes-Liberty in 1940. She worked at Swan Rubber where a young man from the stockroom tended to linger more when delivering to Lucy than others. She agreed to date him and eventually married Delmar “Willie” Wilson on October 21, 1947 and he passed away on December 23, 2016. Lucy will be remembered as a strong and determined woman who cared for her younger siblings and quickly bounced back from setbacks and injuries. She never drove, but was very active in the New Washington United Methodist Church and New Washington Garden Club. Before moving to the country, she was a member a mothers’ club in Bucyrus and she enjoyed sewing clothes and doll clothes for her daughter and nieces. She was a current member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Debbie Wilson; two sisters, Florence Cooper and Shirley Hehr; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband of 69 years, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth, Alice and Penny and two brothers, John Raymond and William. Friends may call 9:15-10:50 am on Thursday, January 19 at Wise Funeral Service where her funeral will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Becky Smithey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home to help offset expenses. Memories and photos can be shared on Lucy’s Tribute Wall.
