Muriel Gray Bland Aldridge Obituary

Mrs. Muriel Gray Bland Aldridge, 79, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Chapel mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park with the Rev. Johnny Branch officiating. Entombment will follow the service. Born to Maggie and Gray Bland, Mrs. Aldridge was a native and longtime resident of Greenville where she was a graduate of Greenville High School. In 1958, she married Clifton Douglass Aldridge and they first made their home in Greenville. In 1967, they made their first move with her husband’s work to Vermont and a number of moves followed before his retirement in 1998 while they were living in Westlake, Ohio. With his retirement, they happily moved to Amelia Island, Florida before returning to Greenville in 2015. They enjoyed many happy times in their beach retirement particularly playing golf often and gathering with family and friends. Mrs. Aldridge will be fondly remembered for her loving and kind nature. She adored her family and particularly her grandchildren. A very approachable person, Mrs. Aldridge always saw the good in others, was an avid reader and was considered by many as an unassuming lady. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Mrs. Aldridge will missed greatly by the many who knew and loved her. Surviving are husband of 59 years, Clifton Douglass Aldridge; sons, Clifton D. “Doug” Aldridge, Jr. of Raleigh and Rodney Gray “Rod” Aldridge and wife, Tonia, of Greenville; daughter, Amy Aldridge Schramm and husband, John, of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Blake Aldridge of Raleigh, Zach Aldridge of Washington, DC, Meredith Schramm and Mason Schramm, both of McKinney, TX; sister, Faye Bland Allen and husband, Robert, of Ayden The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service at the mausoleum and immediately following the service.
