Richard A. "Rich" Kreitling, age 84 of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Clearwater, Florida, and recently of Hastings, died peacefully following an extended illness on Saturday morning, May 9, 2020, at The Gardens of Cannon Falls. Richard Allen, the son of Clarence and Martha (Schrears) Kreitling, was born on March 13, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. Following his graduation from Fenger High School, Rich enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and served five years prior to receiving an Honorable Discharge. Rich also continued his education at Auburn and later the University of Illinois where he graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education. On March 3, 1989, Rich was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nancy Gillespie. They enjoyed the past thirty-one years of marriage and made many loving memories along the way. Rich was a longtime professional Football Player for the Cleveland Browns from 1959 to 1963, then with the Chicago Bears in 1964. His love for the sport and dedication to his teammates earned him a spot in college football hall of fame, and allowed him to have a successful career. Rich also enjoyed being on the water, golfing with family and friends, and living in both Minnesota and Florida. He was a longtime member of Lions Club and The Gideon's International. He was preceded in death by his parents. Rich is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Kreitling; daughters and their families, Kathy, Karen, Kristin, Karol, and Kendall; step children, Dawn Cross, Debra SuttonBrown, and Steve (Kate) Sutton-Brown; many grandchildren and one great granddaughter; sisters, Betty (Ed) Engle and Ginny (Pat) Baker; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
