Patsy attended school at Sacred Heart Residential School in the early 1940s and left in 1951. She then went to work as a cook at the St. Vincent Hospital in Pincher Creek, West Castle Minimum Security Forestry Camp and Ropert Home in Calgary. She had various other jobs that she worked at throughout Southern Alberta. Patsy loved cooking; she learned much of her techniques from her late mother Angeline, who taught her how to cook, garden and be an expert in canning vegetables and jam. Everywhere Patsy went, she always took over the kitchen and would make a perfect meal with love ensuring fresh vegetables were always part of the meals. Patsy practiced her Blackfoot culture and attended many ceremonies. In her later years, she would often speak Blackfoot -- teaching words to her grandchildren. She was also a devout Catholic who always acknowledged Creator and enjoyed her Sunday masses. Patsy’s hobbies included visiting and story telling with those family and friends she often visited in her travels. She also enjoyed knitting, embroidery and sewing, but her biggest excitement was going to Bingo, upset with needing one number. Grandma Patsy will always be remembered as the best babysitter and roommate because she let us get away with almost anything, but there was always a limit. She would make sure we were safe whether she was keeping us in line as children or checking on us as adults, her love was unconditional. Grandma Patsy’s home was always filled with love, home-cooked meals, goodies and lots of laughter from her story telling. Grandma Pasty truly cherished her moments with her great grandchildren. They always made her smile, laugh and filled her heart with love; they had a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed her visits with her fur grandbabies - they would always make her laugh and smile. Patsy was kind, caring, compassionate and had so much love to give to all those who were blessed to have met her. Home was always where Patsy’s heart was while visiting her numerous family and friends during her travels. The family greatly appreciates and acknowledges the nursing care that was provided to Pasty at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Le Crest in Cardston, Vista Village in Pincher Creek, Pincher Creek Hospital, Dr. Rommens and nursing staff. The family acknowledges that Patsy had numerous family and friends too numerous to mention but you know who you are and we apologize if you haven’t been named.
