Harold A. "Ike" Silvis

Harold A. “Ike” Silvis, 90, of Bradford, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 23, 1926 in Brookville, the son of the late Amer and Marie Moore Silvis. He was a 1950 graduate of the former Mt. Jewett High School. He received his diploma after he came home from serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II (1943-1947). On July 2, 1949 in Frewsburg, NY, he married Marian Johnson who survives. He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church and the Mt. Jewett American Legion. He was a member of the Pine Acres Country Club where he was also a past member of the board of directors. He was an avid bowler for many years and he bowled on the Creative Wood Design Team at Bylle Lanes. He was employed by Quaker State and later at National Fuel Gas for twenty five years until his retirement. He was also self-employed as a timber cutter for right of ways and an inspector for the Bradford City Water Authority. In addition to his wife of 67 years, Marian J. Silvis of Bradford, he is also survived by three sons, Richard (Donna) Silvis of Virginia Beach, VA, David (Nancy) Silvis of Bradford, Bradley Silvis of Erie; one grandson, Scott (Sue) Silvis of Portville, NY; four granddaughters, Hope (William) Caracci of Virginia Beach, VA, Shannon (Chuck) Ridenour of Bradford, Ashley (Bryant) Rawls of Lompoc, CA, Nicole Silvis of Erie; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Peterson and Doris Bonini. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Emanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Thomas Pierotti officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Mt. Jewett. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc.
