James Fain Griffin Obituary

Mr. James Fain Griffin, 87, of Cave Spring, passed away Friday afternoon, April 17, 2020, in a Rome hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Griffin was born in Alapaha, Georgia March 18, 1933, a son of the late John E. Griffin and the late Minnie Rowe Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a 1954 graduate of the Georgia School for the Deaf, and made his career with the United States Postal Service, working in the Duluth area. Mr. Griffin was a member of the Crusselle-Freeman Church of the Deaf in Atlanta, the Northwest Georgia Association of the Deaf, the Georgia Association of the Deaf, and the National Association of the Deaf, as well as the G.S.D Museum and the G.S.D. Blind Association. Mr. Griffin enjoyed his hobbies of gardening and caring for his backyard as well as travel, camping, RV activities and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, the former Ester Juanice Dukes, to whom he was married March 12, 1955; and by a brother Gene Griffin and his wife Idell. Fain will be missed by his wife, and will forever be in heaven.

Mr. Griffin was cremated, and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date at the Crusselle-Freeman Church of the Deaf in Atlanta.
