age 68 of 188 East Reese, Road Mesena, GA passed on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his residence. The family will not be receiving friends at this time. Please direct all calls to Thomson Funeral System, 505 Gordon St. NE, Thomson. ““Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness.” Psalm 115:1 Nathaniel Ivey was born on Friday, September 3rd, 1948 to the proud parents, Ralph Jones Ivey and Janie Lou Tucker Ivey in Thomson, GA. Nate as he was affectionately called by family and friends graduated from the Luther Hudson Price High School of Atlanta, GA in 1966. After graduating, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served on active duty from 1967 until 1969. Shortly after, he joined the United States Army Reserve, serving from 1969 until 1973. Nathaniel continued his dedicated service to his country by serving in the United States Army National Guard from 1980 until 1992. While enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard, Nathaniel fought in Operation Desert Storm from 1990 until 1991 and worked for the DeKalb County Police Department of GA for several years after 1982. Amongst all the military service and combat, Nathaniel still found time to fall in love. He met the love of his life, Ola Pearl Stockton and they later united into holy matrimony. From this union, two children were born. On Sunday, January 15th, 2017 at the tender age of 68, our beloved Nathaniel Ivey departed from this life at his residence in Mesena, GA to begin his eternal life. Those who preceded him in death are: his wife, Ola Pearl Ivey, his parents, Ralph & Janie Ivey, three siblings, James Ralph Ivey, David Lee Ivey, Rosa Lee Ivey. Loved-ones left to mourn his passing and forever cherish his wonderful memory are: one daughter, Tiffany Ivey; one son, Jonathan (Ashley) Ivey; three grandchildren, Sariyah Ivey, Izaiah Ivey and Shalynn Ivey; an expectant grandchild, Jionni Ivey; two sister, Evelyn Adams and Annie Lou Ivey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
