Hilda Murphy, age 101, passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 5th and with her goes a treasure trove of family memories. Hilda was a strong matriarch of her family, caring and supporting her younger brothersin the most difficult times in their childhood and lives. She will be lovingly remembered by her family through Hilda’s stories during the depression, war, travels, vacations and family gatherings. Hilda is survived by her many nephews and nieces and their family, her sister-in-laws and brother Robert. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Harold; brothers James, Calvin, John, Harold andAlexander and sister Dorothy. She will be fondly and lovingly remembered by all for her spirited willfulness and comical vanity. The family wishes to extend a very grateful and heartfelt thank you to herextended family at Sunrise Assisted Living in Old Tappan, NJ. Hilda was their “Ambassador” and was cared for with the greatest of compassion and kindness. A private burial will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens.
