Monica Ann Pierce Gibbs, a resident of Hartford, died Sunday, April 26, 2020, following an extended illness. She was 62. Monica was born February 22, 1958 in Sterling, Illinois to James Harold Pierce and Jeanette Lynn Wilson Pierce. She grew up in Sterling and was a graduate of Sterling High School. She lived in Bonita Springs, Florida before moving to Hartford in 2006. Monica was a waitress at Mom’s Kitchen in Hartford for over 10 years until the time of her illness. She is predeceased by her father, James H. Pierce and an infant brother, Michael Andrew Pierce. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Michael “Big Mike” Gibbs of Harford; two sons, John Michael Blum of Bonita Springs, Florida and Shane Dean of Rock Falls, Illinois; a daughter, Shawn Marie Dean Ruiz (Reuben) of Estero, Florida; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother, Jeanette Lynn Wilson of Cottonwood; her mother-in-law, Nancy Sue Gibbs of Gainesville, Florida; a sister, Michelle Pierce of Cottonwood; two brothers, James Leroy Pierce of Lanark, Illinois and John Harold Pierce of Naples, Florida.
