Roger George Bousquet Enfield, Connecticut Obituary

Roger George Bousquet

Roger G. Bousquet, Jr., 65, of East Hartford, entered into eternal rest, at home on Monday, April 20, 2020. Born in Hartford on August 19, 1954, he was the beloved son of the late Roger and Irene Bousquet of Enfield. Roger is survived by his brothers, James Bousquet and his wife Linda of Enfield, and Joseph Bousquet and his wife Tammie of Somers; his sisters, Deborah Roy and her husband Allen of Niceville, FL, and Michelle Connors and her husband Michael of Cary, NC. Roger was an enormously generous and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews: Aimee and Tracy Bousquet; Jeffrey and Seth Roy, and Michael and Michaela Connors, and recently a great-nephew, Hunter Meacham. Roger often demonstrated his good sense of humor and fun-loving nature to his nieces and nephews by offering the most fun - and more often than not, the loudest - toys. Roger always had a special knack for giving thoughtful and meaningful gifts which demonstrated well his affection to every recipient. Never did he show up to anyone’s home without a beautiful bouquet, or a bottle of wine, or a bag of treats or a basket of vegetables. Never did he leave that you didn’t feel richer for his having come. Though Roger never married, he was loved deeply by those who knew him. Roger was affable and easily made friends – of his own accord, but also was often adopted as ‘uncle’ to many whom he came to know through his siblings and niece. He was an essential presence at every family gathering, holiday, birthday or celebration. Roger had a long career as a Quality Process Inspector for Pratt and Whitney. He started working there in 1973 at the age of nineteen and advanced in position several times in his long tenure there. His work family will long feel the effects of his contributions to the company as a mentor, a team leader and a professional. Roger was in no hurry to retire; he enjoyed his work and understood its value and its place in his life. His career at Pratt & Whitney spanned forty-six years demonstrating a kind of loyalty and dedication that is rarely achieved in today’s climate. His leadership skills were also put to good use for many years of service with positions on his Condo Association Board as well. Roger also had a profound interest in astronomy and space exploration. His career in the aircraft industry fed and informed his curiosity about the history and advances in space technology. He fostered that in others by gifting to many a telescope so they could share in that wonder and knowledge. In addition to his technical interests, Roger was also fond of gardening and tended his own plot in a community garden, a passion he shared with his brothers. Producing beautiful vegetables was a badge of honor he wore well, and rather than proclaiming bragging rights, it fostered camaraderie and an exchange of better growing techniques among them so they could enjoy the spoils of each other’s labors. His affinity for gardening married well with his love for the sun! Roger’s favorite leisure time would place him at the pool or the beach, basking in the warm rays and achieving that golden brown-bear-look we all equate with his smiling face. Due to restrictions in place relative to the coronavirus pandemic, services and burial will be private at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. A celebration of Roger’s life will be planned for later in the year when it is deemed safe to gather. Please sign the online guestbook if you would like to be notified of the date. We encourage and thank you to leave your memories of Roger with us in the online portal as well.
