Alec August Obituary

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8 KJV Alec “Pippa” Variste August Sr. December 1, 1969 - March 28, 2020 Alec Variste August, Sr. a lifelong resident of Laplace gained his heavenly wings after a hard-fought battle with COVID 19 on March 28, 2020, at Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner, LA. Alec was affectionately known as “Pippa, Uncle Al and Whip Dog.” Alec was born to the loving union of Earnest August, Jr and Vivian Variste August. He was the proud and loving father of Alec Variste August, Jr., the loving younger brother of Angela August Aubert and Earnest August III, and the dear brother-in-law of Randy Paul Aubert. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends/coworkers. He was a fun-loving man that loved to spend time cooking, singing and dancing. His laugh was larger than life and was the gateway to an infinite heart. Alec’s love of God was well known from his baptism at a young age and as a proud member of Rising Star Baptist Church in Laplace, LA. Alec was employed with Huntley and GAT at the Kenner Airport. He loved his job as it allowed him to leave behind just a bit of kindness to every individual that came into contact with him. His job also allowed him to find a second family in his beloved coworkers. Alec's family would like to thank the ICU nurses and doctors and social workers for their love and attention while attending to our loved one. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earnest August, Sr. and Adelle S. August; William Variste and Celestine Brown Variste, Uncle Wilbert August, Aunts Camilla August Sylvan, and Geraldine August Housley. His family will have a private burial. A memorial will be announced at a later date. “Two wings to veil my face. Two wings to veil my feet. Two wings to fly away, and the world can't do me no harm. Meet me Jesus, meet me, I want you to meet me in the middle of the air. If these wings should fail me, I want you to meet me with another pair.” Gone but NEVER forgotten!
