Odessa Mosley Gruetzner
Odessa Mosley Gruetzner, age 92, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at the Wesleyan at Scenic Skilled Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Georgetown, Texas. There will be a private Graveside Service held April 20, at Waco Memorial Park under the direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Pastor David Cozart, Meadowbrook Baptist Church, will officiate. Mrs. Gruetzner was born Odessa Mosley to parents John Melton and Eliza Margaret Mosley in Elkhart, Texas. Raised in Waco, she graduated from La Vega High School. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Joel “Joe” Edward Gruetzner. She was employed by Lone Star Gas Company for over fifteen years. Throughout their married life, they were both employed by the gas company, and enjoyed living in many different areas of Texas and Oklahoma. Before Mrs. Gruetzner moved to Georgetown in 2010, she was an active member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and the Ruth Bible Study Class in Robinson. While in Georgetown, she enjoyed the company of many special friends and activities at the Wesleyan Independent Living Apartments. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and the Worship Center Bible Class. Her family has always known her as the Jigsaw and Find-a-Word puzzle enthusiast, but most important to her was being a Child of the King. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ! She and Joe loved all of their nieces and nephews as their own children. Mrs. Gruetzner was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eliza Mosley; husband, Joe Gruetzner; brothers, Luther Mosley and William Mosley; sisters, Alliene Lasiter and Ouida Bates. One niece and two nephews also preceded her in death. Survivors include nieces, Carolyn Lasiter King and husband, Rex, of Pflugerville, Texas, Joan Lasiter Lewis of Georgetown, and Rhoda Bates and husband, Butch Heffelfinger, of Waco; and nephew, Don Lasiter and wife, Nancy, of Madisonville, Texas. Odessa is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesleyan Homes, 139 Estrella Crossing, Georgetown TX 78628; Crestview Baptist Church, 2300 Williams Dr., Georgetown TX 78628 or Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1207 N Old Robinson Rd., Robinson TX 76706.
