We are greatly saddened to announce Matthew Courtney Kirkman, 43, died April 9, 2020 at home. He was born February 15, 1977 in Pascagoula, MS, the son of Karen and Steve Kirkman. He attended school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during his early years, DeLaura Middle School in Satellite Beach, Fl and graduated from West Ottawa High School in Holland, Michigan. Matthew was currently an employee at Tyson Foods in Zeeland, MI. Matthew was an adventurer. He held a black belt in Tai Kwon Do. He accepted summer jobs in Death Valley and Grand Canyon. He loved sky-diving, writing songs, playing his guitar and cooking. He was truly one with nature and held liberal opinions about the environment. He had a thirst for scientific knowledge and loved rousing debates about theoretical and religious subjects. He may have left us too soon, but he left us with memories of his shining light and kindness. Matthew is survived by his parents, Steve Kirkman and Karen Kirkman Silver; and his brother and sister, Christopher Kirkman and Stephanie Kirkman Williams. He is also survived by half-brother and sister, Nicholas Kirkman and Laura Kirkman; step-father and step-mother, Douglas Silver and Lesa Kirkman; and step-brother, Joshua Silver; as well as cousins and nieces. Because of the current pandemic and restrictions on travel, there will be no funeral service at the present time.
