Adlin V. Clarke Obituary

Mrs. Adlin Mair-Clarke, aged 78 went home the be with the LORD on April 6, 2020.

Adlin was born on November 15, 1941 in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, to Mr. and Mrs. Claudius and Edna Mair.

Always a loving and devoted daughter and sister, it is no surprise that she grew up to be a true team player and had a passion for service.

Adlin qualified for the Jamaica Olympic team that went to Tokyo, Japan in 1964, and Mexico City, Mexico in 1968. Years later, Adlin ran in the New York City Marathon- twice, ran in and won many sprinting events, and even broke a world record for the 200 meter dash for her age group and gender at the 1997 National Masters Indoor Track and Field Championship (USATF) in Massachusetts.

In addition to her passion for running, Adlin was passionate about the American Red Cross where she joyfully served at the Westchester County chapter for over 35 years. No stranger to ambition, she worked her way up the Organization while pursuing her studies in Social Work. Adlin earned her Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from Fordham University, post-Master’s credential in Clinical Social Work (CSW) through Adelphi University (simultaneously earning academic credits towards a doctoral degree), and eventually earned her Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) credential, licensed to practice psychotherapy in the State of New York.

Adlin’s greatest passions were her children: she is survived by her daughters Charlene Clarke, Camille Clarke, and her beloved grand-daughter Cabria Gainey. Adlin is also survived by two brothers-Aston Francis and George Mair, one sister-Elaine Mair, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
