Olga Klein Obituary

: Olga Klein (nee Schienke) of Eastpointe passed away on March 28, 2020, at the age of 89. A daughter of Ferdinand and Wanda (nee Rossol), she was born in Siemental, a German farming village in Poland, on November 11, 1930. Displaced by the war, the family fled arriving in Bavaria in 1947 and then immigrated to Detroit in 1950. Olga married Frederick Klein on April 14, 1953 at the Conner Avenue German Baptist Church in Detroit. She remained an active member as the church moved first to Eastpoint as Ridgemont Baptist Church and later to Sterling Heights as Hope Community Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, Junior Church, worked with the White Cross service organization, and later coordinated luncheons for the Senior Citizens group. She had the gift of caring and nursed many family members through long illnesses and during their last weeks on earth. She was willing to help in any capacity where she was needed and was available at a moment’s notice, earning her the affectionate nickname “Saint Olga”. Following marriage, she moved back to West Germany to be with her husband who served in the US Army. Returning to the US in 1955, she became a lifelong resident of East Detroit, now Eastpointe, in 1956. Preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and an infant daughter (Ruth Ellen). Survived by her loving husband of almost 67 years. Cherished mother of Ralph (Pia), Esther (Howard) Ludwig, and Mark (Ruth). Beloved grandmother of Frederick (Cheryll), Stephen, Christina (Kyle) Botkin, Peter (Helen) Ludwig, Rebecca (Jonathan) Polsdorfer, Matthew (Katherine), and Rachel. Great-grandmother of Landon, Elisabeth Botkin, Theodore Botkin, Joseph Botkin, and Samuel Polsdorfer, the joys of her last years; she was eagerly anticipating the birth of two more this year. Buried at Cadillac Memorial Cemetery in Clinton Township in a private service limited to immediate family. A memorial service in her honor will be held at a later date.
