Glenna Mae Bingham Hablutzel passed away March 30, 2020, following a courageous struggle with many complications associated with diabetes. Her unqualified love and compassion for everyone will be missed immensely. She possessed a rare sense of charity and kindness that punctuated her every deed and served as an example to all who were fortunate to know her. She had an unusual optimism and resilience in the face of adversity.
Glenna was born Sept. 11, 1946, in Tucson. Her early years were spent attending Davidson Elementary and Doolen Junior High, riding ponies with her brothers and friends and enjoying a childhood at the Bingham’s Catalina Dairy. The Bingham family moved to San Manuel in 1961 to be closer to the Bingham Sacaton Ranch. Glenna was a proud graduate of the San Manuel High School’s class of 1964. She attended the Arizona Academy of Beauty and began her career at Chez Josef Beauty Salon. She went on to be a highly sought after and successful cosmetologist and beauty salon manager in Scottsdale and then owned her own salon. She never lost interest in the cosmetology business as she critiqued and advised everyone from her nurses to her dialysis technicians regarding hairstyles, color, cuts, and volume until the very end.
She was proud of her strong Arizona pioneer heritage and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her affection and devotion to her family and friends overrode all of her personal needs and concerns. She was a loving wife to her beloved husband, Jim; a beloved daughter to her parents, Lamar and Dorothy Bingham; as well as a beloved step mom and grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund at LDS Philanthropies, 1450 N. University Avenue, Provo, UT 84604 or online at give.lds.org/memoriam.
