Wesley Lewis Newark, New Jersey Obituary

Wesley Lewis

 Wesley Allen Lewis, the youngest child of Jesse and Ollie Lewis was born on February 22, 1958 in New Haven, Connecticut. Wesley graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Elizabeth, NJ and attended Morgan State University, Baltimore MD. He held jobs as a Driver for several corporations and financial institutions during his career. He took pride in getting up every day and doing his job to the best of his ability. A “gentle giant” he enjoyed being in church. When his father and his family left New Haven, steeled in Elizabeth, NJ and started Bethel FWB Church, the family, along with Jeffrey Ingram, were the church for the first year. As the church grew, his Mother began having monthly singing programs. Wesley and his brother Jesse, Jr. were always the “opening act” as the Lewis Brothers. Our “hit” song was Take the Lord With You, Everywhere You Go. When his Father was called to become the Pastor of Macedonia Redeemed Pentecostal Church in Jersey City, NJ, Wesley sang in the Choir and served as a Trustee. God called Wesley into the Ministry and was ordained at Trueway Gospel Tabernacle, under the leadership of Bishop Y.D. Baytops. In 2001, Wesley moved on to True Vine Church of Jesus, under the leadership of Overseer Roderick Allen., where he was elevated to Elder in 2008. It was at True Vine that he met his soul mate, Anita. They were married in April, 2008. Anita’s family embraced him and looked up to him as a father and grandfatherly figure that was missing in their lives. After years of service at True Vine, Wesley and Anita were led to to Faith Fellowship Ministries in Sayreville, NJ (now Epic Church). Wesley involved himself in several ministries, his favorite being the Prison Ministry. Wesley was predeceased by his parents, Bishop Jesse Lewis and Mother Ollie Lewis. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Anita, his sister Linda Lewis; his brothers Sebron Dixon and Jesse Lewis, Jr.; his sons Cory Fitch and Willie Fitch; his sisters-in laws Mona Fitch Elliott, Marcella Fitch and the late Angela Fitch; three grandsons and four granddaughters; and a host of other relatives and friends
