Jerry Pittis
Jerry Pittis, born June 15, 1938, to Dwight and Mildred Pittis in Uhrichsville, OH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Beloved husband of nearly 60 years to Carole Pittis (nee Hannafus), loving father of Todd (Mary), Brad (Julie) and Laura (Ray) Orlosky. Cherished grandfather of Carla, Amanda, Caelie, and Shelby, and great grandfather of Kori, Carlee, and Kennedi. Dear brother-in-law to Rita Yore, Ruth Bolles (Don), Pam Blankenhorn, Mary Lee Barr and caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. A longtime resident of Bedford, OH, Jerry worked for Hawthornden State Hospital as a recreational therapist, then joined the Walton Hills Police Department in 1965, retiring August 31, 1981, and becoming a teacher’s aide in the Bedford City Schools for several years. Jerry was a member of Parkside Church, avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, model railroad enthusiast, and animal lover. He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, bird watching, audiobooks, and traveling with Carole and their friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Parkside Church, 7100 Pettibone Rd., Chagrin Falls, Ohio 44023.
