Thomas Wesley Blair

Thomas Wesley Blair, age 85 of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 3, 1934 in Casper, Wyoming to the late Fred Vernon and Opal Ann (Cook) Blair, the oldest of six children, residing in Torrington, Wyoming. When he was five, his family moved to New Concord, Kentucky. Wesley graduated high school in 1953 at Cheatham County High School in Ashland City, Tennessee. Even before finishing school, Wesley worked on a farm. After graduation, he took a position with H.W. Caldwell and Sons Construction and began learning how to operate most kinds of heavy equipment in road building. In 1958, H.W. Caldwell and Sons moved their operations to Mississippi and Wesley went to work for Burton Construction Company in Winchester in the position of superintendent. In 1959, Wesley opened his own company, Blair Construction Company. His sons Gary and Vann, as well as grandsons, Joshua, Jason, Jared, and Cody continue in his footsteps operating heavy equipment in this earth moving business, Blair and Blair Construction Company. Wesley was a devoted member of Bethel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Faye McCoy Blair. Wesley is survived by his wife, Mary Frances King Blair of Winchester; sons, Gary Thomas (Renee) Blair, and Vann Gray (Rhonda) Blair, both of Winchester; step-son, Marty (Kelly) Denton of Winchester; grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Meaker, Jared (Schelby) Blair, Shelby Shaw, Sarah Shaw, Jason (Jacqueline) Blair, Josh (Rachelle) Blair, Cody (Tabitha) Denton, Miranda (Derrick) Gamble, and Tyler Denton; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Juanita) Blair of Bush Creek, Cyrus (Doris) Blair of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Boyd (Teresa) Blair of Joelton; and sisters, Mary Elder of Joelton, and Ruth Ann (Paul) Crutchfield of Nashville. A private family graveside service is planned with burial at Franklin Cemetery. The register book and memorial cards will be available under the carport of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home from 12-1:30 pm on Friday, April 3, 2020. An attendant will be available to assist you.
