CONSTANCE B. TAYLOR, 85, was born on April 14, 1934 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and passed away on March 28, 2020. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Mildred Ogden, pre-deceased were brother Wilfred and sister Phyllis. She lived most of her life, a single mother of 4, in Buttonwoods, Warwick, Rhode Island. The home she owned on Capron Farm Drive gave her motivation. She loved living at the water, the Masonic Park in her backyard. It was her slice of heaven on earth. Thankfully, all four of us were able to talk to her on March 25, 2020—all at the same time— it was a sight! Thank you Lynne and Facetime. We are: Donna Kenahan, married to Stephen, living in Concord, NC; Robin Bessette, living in Cumberland, RI; Lynne Habershaw, married to Edward, living in Warwick, RI; and John Taylor, living in East Greenwich, RI. By far her greatest pleasure was watching her grandchildren grow from birth into amazing adults. She was loving, devoted, encouraging and always present. Every event had her cheering with pride and snapping photos with her disposable camera. They are: David, married to Laura, Danielle, Rebecca, Taylor, Meaghan, and Kiernan. Mom to some, Grammy to some, she was a treasure beyond words. We will carry her deep in our hearts and be thankful that she was ours. We will miss her always. And, there is Ronnie, our dad, her ex-husband. Her first love and her only love. They stayed friends, enjoyed trips together, celebrated holidays and special events together, she was always there for him and he for her. Even at the end. Connie was a talented artist and singer. Many of us have her paintings in our homes. If you were blessed to have heard her sing, you know she is being welcomed into the Lord’s heavenly choir, probably front row, first seat, leading the descants. Thank you to St. Marys and All Saints Episcopal churches for providing comfort and the welcome she needed during her life. God gave her the power to succeed and you helped her believe she could do it. Thank you also to the The Church of the Apostles for continuing that faithful comfort during her last years. She never stopped praying for others. Her prayer notebook was so full, we should send it out to be bound. We all benefited from her devout belief in God and Jesus as our savior. Connie graduated from Roger Williams General Hospital in 1954, as a registered nurse. She started her career in the newborn nursery, worked in pediatrics at Quonset Point, and ended her 50 year nursing career caring for nursing home patients. She tried to retire, but was asked to continue at Charlesgate Nursing Home in medical records. She finally retired at 75 years old. However, in true form, she kept up with her continuing education courses and never had an expired license. She said she might be called back to duty. She was nothing if not prepared for every situation. During a battle with colon cancer, she volunteered to be a test patient. She kept meticulous records and was an asset to the research team. Although her battle with dementia could not have been predicted, she has still again been able to provide clinical research for others suffering this disease and other afflictions. Her last selfless act: she has donated her body to Brown University, The Anatomical Gift Program……always giving. Sadly we lost her early, she barely had the time to reap the rewards of a hard fought life. But, she passed peacefully, loved ones with her, and we are happy today that she is now discussing all those prayers needs with God in person.
