Ahi Murad Raschke Obituary

Ahi Murad Raschke departed this life on Friday, March 20, 2020. He was born in Newark, NJ on August 7, 1990 to parents Sharon Bell and John Furqan Raschke. Ahi attended Agape A.M.E. Church and Genesis Temple, both located in Newark. As an adult he practiced Islam. Ahi attended South Mountain and Heywood Avenue Elementary schools. He began St Benedict’s Preparatory School where he participated in band and competed on the swimming and track & field teams. He then moved to California and attended Taft High School in Woodland Hills, graduating in 2008. While there, he joined the boxing team. He then attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills. He majored in music and enjoyed producing music with his friends and younger brother Furqan. Ahi loved basketball and played almost daily. He continued his love of boxing and trained at Outlaws Boxing Gym in Tarzana, CA. He grew an interest in clothing and worked toward releasing a T-shirt line. Ahi’s heart was too big to measure and only matched by his generosity and kindness. This loving spirit was not bound solely to family and friends, it extended to strangers and especially Christ’s least of these, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’ (Matthew 25:40). Ahi is Swahili for “Friend/Brother to the people”, and he definitely succeeded in living up to the name. Unasked, he was witnessed giving $15 to a homeless person in Santa Monica while in high school. Ahi was very protective and caring, and came to the aid of his family and friends when needed. He loved and cherished his entire family and every friend. In the arms of the Lord, he’s now on the receiving end of indescribable love and kindness. He will forever be remembered. Ahi is survived by his parents Sharon Bell and John Furqan Raschke; beloved brothers Furqan Noah Raschke, Amir and Bahari Campbell and sister, Jurnie Raschke; grandmother, Thelma Bell. He is preceded in death by grandparents John Patrick, Linda Raschke and Leo Bell. He also leaves a very special friend Quierra, and four of his closest friends: James, Tyva, Basir, Omar and a host of aunts, uncles, and his cousins whom he shared very close bonds with along with his god sister and god brother Dasia and John Brown and a host of other relatives and friends. Due to the current coronavirus outbreak, all services will be private.
