Betty Ruth McCants

Betty was born on April 25, 1932, in Demple Community, Red River County Texas, to Reuben Jordan and Audie Conyers Jordan. Betty met and married the love of her life Charles Roden in 1950. They moved to Arlington, Texas where they raised their only son Dellas Roden. They were members of Fielder Road Baptist Church. Betty was married to Charlie for 23 years until he passed in 1973. In 1975 she married Floyd Mccants. They were together for 34 years until Floyd passed in 2010. Betty loved to work and care for her family. She started her employment career with Houston Fire and Casualty Insurance as a secretary. She then moved onto Vandergriff Insurance Agency in Arlington for several years until her son started school. Betty stayed at home to take care of Dellas until Charlie passed. She then began working from home for Taylor Publishing Company. After she married Floyd, she became office Manager/Secretary for Dalworthington Fence Company. She retired after Floyd passed. Betty was a generous lady. She loved to care for others and was always there to help anyone in need. She enjoyed keeping a perfect house. You could drop in at any time and her house was always in order. She loved working in her garden or planting flowers in her yard. She was very proud of her beautiful home. Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, Audie Conyers Jordan and Rueben Jordan; her 1st husband, Charles Roden; her brother, Dellas Jordan and his wife, Margaruite; her sister, Dorothy Toppings and her husband, Herk (Shorty); their son, Mack; her step-daughter, Drucella Gable; and her son, Eric Moore; her 2nd husband, Floyd McCants. Survivors: Betty was survived by her only son, Dellas Roden and wife, Brenda; her grandson, Dellas Roden Jr and wife, Itty; her granddaughter, Brandy Roden and her fiancé, Matt Pratt. Betty loved her sister’s daughter, Linda Wood and her children. Linda’s daughter, Nikki Glasgow and her husband, Todd. Linda’s son Jeff Wood. Linda’s brother’s daughter, Hillary Topping. Betty’s brothers loving daughter, Rita Salyer and her husband, Gary. Their only child, Trent and his wife, Kasey. Betty also adored Charlie, Charlie’s brothers, her sister-in-law, Bea Roden, and her brother’s children, Gary, Rhonda, and John Michael Roden. She also leaves behind her great- great nieces and nephews, Taylor Deceasare and her husband, Austin, Kaylie and Kenzie Glasgow, Zack Wood and Elaine Toppings. Betty luckily was able to meet her great great great niece and nephew, Emmalyn and Barrett Deceasare. Betty was blessed with 4 step-children: Linda Kaufman and her husband, Don, Stanley McCants and his wife, Patty, Terry McCants and his wife, Julie, Carol Warren and her husband, John. Betty had 8 step-grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren Memorial gifts may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
