Amanda Bejar Obituary

Amanda Palacio Bejar February 6, 1945 – March 30, 2020 Amanda Palacio Bejar peacefully passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the age of 75 years. Amanda was born on February 6, 1945 in Pagbilao, Quezon, Philippines. Amanda is predeceased by her father, Alberto Merluza; mother, Precentacion Merluza; sister, Edna Santiago (Jose Santiago) and brother Cesar Merluza (Lilia). Amanda will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Kimberley Bejar; brother in-law, Santiago Bejar; sister in-law, Lilia Merluza; niece, Cherylyn Merluza (Velmort); nephew John Merluza (Rosalynn); sister Rizalina Cerrer (Frederico) and brother Edgardo Merluza (Carmelita). Amanda immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1971. After arriving in Canada, Amanda met her husband Felipe in the Philippines through a Pen Pal correspondence. They happily got married in 1979 at St. Edwards church in Winnipeg. Many know Amanda to be a loving, kind and generous person. At family gatherings, Amanda was known to be the “life of the party”, spreading her love though her infectious laugh and humor. Her energy brought comfort and joy to everyone around her. Amanda was also very supportive and genuinely compassionate for others where she always found the time to listen and be present for her loved ones. Amanda was also very affectionate around her grandkids. She loved playing games with them and would always reward them with a gift every time they were together. During her time in Canada, Amanda worked as a health care aid but her hidden talent was in her creativeness. One of her favorite hobbies was making floral arrangements for family members along with creating many different arts and crafts for her friends at the Point Douglas and Amber Meadow Retirement Homes. Amanda will be truly missed - her generosity, love and good-natured spirit will always be a part of us. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Amber Meadow for their kind care and compassion. A private family interment will be held on Tuesday, April 7th, 2020 at Glen Lawn Cemetery, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB at 11:00 am.
