Michael L. Baker, 74, of rural Liscomb, left this world on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was greeted in Heaven by his Savior, walking no longer with two canes or severe pain in his shoulders.In light of the state wide mandate from the Governor concerning COVID-19 that was given on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 stating that no public gatherings over 10 people should take place, private graveside services for Michael will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown and those in attendance is encouraged to dress casual. Memorials can be made either to the family or to Bethel Grove Church in rural Liscomb. Mike Baker was born on September 28, 1945 to John and Harriet Baker in Eldora, Iowa. He started his schooling at the Melrose one room number 9 country school, and then graduated from Union-Whitten in the class of 1965. He was drafted into the United States Army in October of 1965 and served his country for 2 years as a baker, stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Mike married his best friend, Sarah Duffy on August 1, 1969 and to this union was born a son Joe and daughter Lori. He worked for Fishers for 35 years and enjoyed farming. Mike’s hobby was reading ads in the papers and going to auctions. He was an active member of the Bethel Grove Church in rural Liscomb. Mike is survived by his wife, son and daughter. He is also survived by granddaughter, Stormie Anne Lynn Baker; sister, Dee (Ron) Dole; sister-in-law, Annette Baker; brother-in-law, Max Duffy and son-in-law, Jim Camps. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rick and in laws, Marion and Edith Duffy.
