Edward Andre DuBose (Ed), a professional cook and high school baseball coach, and life-long resident of Yonkers, New York, died unexpectedly on March 28th, 2020 at the age of 50 while at home. Ed is survived by his mother Madeline DuBose; sisters Tansa DuBose-Langley and Dr. Carla DuBose-Simons; brothers in-Law Pierre Langley and Benjamin Simons; and nephews and godsons James Langley and Alexander Simons. Also left to cherish his memory are Ed's aunts and godmothers Maggie DuBose and Carolyn Mitchell; uncles Vernon Mitchell, Nathaniel DuBose, Samuel DuBose, and Donald Colvin; aunts Ada Irby, Ollie McCall, Jackie Colvin, and Marian DuBose; goddaughter Kristin Goode and a host of cousins, family and close friends. Ed was predeceased by his father Daniel Lee DuBose Jr.; grandparents Edward and Mary Wilson and Daniel and Mary DuBose; godfather Wille DuBose; uncle Michael DuBose; and godson Mason Fleming. Ed was born on September 26, 1969. He graduated from Saunders Trades and Technical High School in 1987, where he received a Diploma in Commercial Foods. Ed attended Westchester Community College and after held several professional cooking positions. His last position was with Flick Compass Group, at Acorda Therapeutics, where he was loved by many for his hard work and infectious smile. Ed was also just recently hired by the Yonkers Board of Ed, as a Junior Varsity Boys Baseball Coach, his dream job. Ed volunteered for Yonkers' Dunwoodie Youth Association, for over 15 years, where he dedicated an enormous amount of time. Ed coached countless numbers of youths between the ages of 4 - 16, in Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer. He was a role model, a mentor, and friend to many youths. He had many accomplishments, the latest one on May 14th 2019, where he received a Certificate of recognition from the City of Yonkers for his service as a volunteer coach. Ed was a special guy who loved life and could light up any room with his big smile and his hearty laugh. He loved his family and friends unconditionally, especially his nephews whom he treated as if they were his own children. Ed loved watching and playing sports, especially his favorite professional sports teams the Knicks, Jets, and Mets. Ed loved to cook, and his family benefitted from the delicious feasts he prepared. He loved coaching the children at DYA. He is irreplaceable and will truly be missed by all. Ed was cremated and cared for by Sinatra Memorial Home, Yonkers, New York. The family plans to honor him with a memorial service at a later date, when restrictions ease. May God Bless Edward and keep him, until we meet again.
