Mary Catherine Boudreau Obituary

Mary Catherine Boudreau River Ryan The family of Mary Catherine (M.C.) Boudreau, who passed away March 28, 2020, invite family and friends to attend her service on Friday Oct 8., 2021. Born February 5, 1934, to the late Mary (Lee) and James Burns, M.C. lived her entire life on School Street in River Ryan. She was well known in the community, especially for her devotion to her Catholic faith. For many years she could be seen walking Carpenters Hill every Sunday evening to count the collection at St Michael’s Parish. When she could no longer attend regular services, she watched mass daily at home and prayed the rosary regularly. Wherever M.C. was, prayer beads were never far away. After completing formal schooling, M.C. spent her career working as an administrative clerk at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. For more than 50 years M.C. and Junior enjoyed a lasting and devoted marriage. They spent many decades together, travelling to their summer home in Margaree. In winters they snowmobiled: in summers he fished the river while she travelled the backroads and highlands visiting neighbors, attending the fall fair at St Patrick’s, and checking in daily on Evelyn for a hot cup of tea. In the evenings they enjoyed tapping their feet to fiddle tunes at the Barn where they would catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Everything they shared was always in the best interest and comfort of the other. Juniors passing in 2017 was a tremendous loss for her. M.C. was a very loving and giving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family were an integral part of her daily life. No accomplishment or story was too minimal to share with a friend or a complete stranger. If you knew Nannie M.C.; you knew them. Remembering her always are her son Arlen, grandson Evan (Lindsay); granddaughters Brianna (Brodie), Leanne; great grandchildren Lily and Oliver, nephew Johnny, as well as extended family and friends. Besides her parents M.C. was predeceased by her husband Charles (Junior) Boudreau, sister Eileen (Byron) MacKinnon and brother Melvin Burns. Visitation will be from 10 – 11am. A chapel service will be held at 11am, with Father Peter McLeod officiating, followed by interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Proof of double Covid vaccination is required. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
