Cervone Charles Cevrin Copes, Sr., son of Charles Edward Copes and the late Celestine Mears Copes. He passed away from this life on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Cervone, also known as “Gruff” & “Chuck,” attended Accomack County Public Schools and was a 1995 graduate of Arcadia High School. He entered the United States Marine Corp and served for a short time before his discharge. Cervone was currently employed at Tyson Foods in Temperanceville, Virginia. At an early age, Cervone joined First Baptist Church in Mappsville, Virginia. In later years, he attended St. John Independent Church in Messongo and Jerusalem Baptist Church in Temperanceville. Gruff loved watching sports, especially football. He was a true Dallas Cowboys fan and knew every player and what college they attended. He knew all of the stats without hesitation. Gruff also enjoyed wrestling. Family gatherings were his favorite; it was his time to shine. Chuck loved to eat. He would pile his plate mountain high and would eat every bit of it. The family would watch in amazement and laugh, wondering where he put it all. He was famous for his vegetable beef soup, spaghetti, and goulash. He had mastered those three meals. The boys knew whenever they came over, they were going to have one of the three. Chuck leaves to cherish his memory: seven children, Ciara Copes, Cervone Copes, Jr., Brelyn Williams, Brazile Williams, Ricardo Copes, Joshua Williams, and Cyan Copes; father, Charles E. Copes; brother, Charles (Yvonne) Morris; two sisters, Cherleeta Copes and Claudette Byrd; three favorite uncles, Robert (June) Gordy, Maurice Taylor, and Karl Copes, Jr., with whom he shared a birthday; six nephews; three nieces; special friend, Tyniesha Purnell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
