Willi Stumpf Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Willi. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Willi was born and raised in Furth, Germany. Growing up in an orphanage during the war came with many challenges. But he was determined and learned to become an iron worker by trade, building and repairing beautiful ornate iron structures. When he was in his early twenties he met and married the love of his life, Friedlinde (Linda) and they were married for 65 years. They embarked on an adventure that would change their lives forever. In 1957 they crossed the ocean and moved to Winnipeg. Life in Canada was also hard, here he could learn any trade to get by. He was never afraid of hard work. Throughout his lifetime he was a machinist, plumber, carpenter you name it he did it. Never being able to sit still, his ever creative mind was always coming up with something new to build. From a 5th wheel trailer to a boat, there were no limits to what he could create. He and mum in their 60’s built a beautiful lake house from the ground up on the Winnipeg River where friends and family were always welcome. When he wasn’t working he was looking for ways to have fun. Listening to German music, a master at Ping pong, loved travelling, playing cards, biking, snowmobiling, camping, boating and fishing. He was the life of the party and when the family was there, those were the times that he loved the most. Willi and Linda raised three daughters. He always said that the kids came first. Family was everything to him. To the very end, he never complained about his illness, and no matter how sick he was he always showed his love and devotion to mum and the family. Willi died at Riverview Hospital due to complications of dementia. He was the rock of our family, we cannot imagine our world without our father in it. Willi leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Friedlinde; three daughters Silvia Jakobs (John), Helen Kmiec (Zdzislaw) and Veronika Wiebe (Wes); Seven grandchildren Kyle, Matt, Jessica (Mike), Jeffrey (Nicole), Corey (Marina), Mark, and Haley(Josh); and two great grandchildren Janina and Olivia. Sie werden immer in Erinnerung bleiben!
