Cleve Baumhauer Obituary

Cleve Baumhauer

BAUMHAUER, Cleve October 31, 1930 - March 20, 2020 Suddenly at home - Beloved husband of Mable for 69 years, dear father of Cynthia. Predeceased by sister Joan Knox, survived by sister Sharon Lee (Jack deceased), niece Heather Clements (Richard), nephew David Knox (April). Predeceased by best friend Barney Closs and cousins Jim Ferris and Ken Vallier, best buddies from his youth. Heartfelt thanks to the many friends and extended family for their love, support, and kind works during an extremely difficult time. Dad was hard working, faithful, loyal, honest, a good provider, and multi-talented with many interests. He was a sailor at heart and my parents enjoyed travelling the globe that included several oceanic cruises - also the Blue Nose II. Their last trip together was a Rocky Mountaineers Train Tours across the prairies to BC. He enjoyed listening to music - Jeff Code on Sunday mornings - and playing his guitars. We attended several concerts together and he could sing although he never thought so. A gifted artist, he could draw anything: plains, trains and automobiles. As a family we enjoyed visiting the Trenton Air Museum. Mechanically inclined, he kept the family vehicles road worthy. The latest purchase of a 1947 Ford was his pride and joy. However, this interest included hot rods, drag racing and of course perched comfortably in his favourite chair the Daytona 500 was a must see every year. His favourite driver was #43 Richard Petty. As a family we had the opportunity to see the Daytona live. What a thrill it was! A bicycle enthusiast, he completed a ride to Lake Placid at age 70. He had a keen mind with a thirst for knowledge. Armed with a grade 8 education, he expanded his horizons through books including the Bible, History being a favourite subject. In good times, and bad times he managed to maintain a sense of humour. Respecting my Dad's wishes there will no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. To honour his love of all critters, donations to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, Humane Society, pet rescue organizations or charity of your choice is appreciated by his family. "Resting till we meet again. Love always."
