Mary Volena Engle

March 25, 2020, Mary Engle went home to see her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “ Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” Mary was born May 4, 1934 in Newport, TN. She grew up in the Telford Community. She was a daughter of the late William and Maggie Adkins Street. Mary married the love of her life Ed Engle on May 14, 1954 and they made their home in Erwin. Mary was a homemaker, who always was there for her husband and children. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for twenty eight years. Mary was also a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was always involved with the ministry of the church. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Engle in 1991, four brothers: Hubert, Paul, Burl, and Dale Street; one sister, Margaret Street Jaynes, special sister-in-law, Wilma Bradford. Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Shannon (Tamera) Engle, one daughter, Cynthia (Doug) Hopson, one grandson, Tyler (Logan) Engle, two granddaughters: Holly ( Phillip) Reed, Jessica Luttrell; five great grandchildren: Cash, Skye, Knox, Layla, Lenox; one brother, Jim (Imogene) Street, three sisters: Betty Street Corell, Willadean Street (Gary) Douglas, Toni Street (Walter) Sherfey, one sister-in-law, Dale Engle, one brother-in-law, Scott Bradford, several nieces and nephews also survive. The immediate family will attend a private graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery. Pastor Steve Rice and Pastor David Crutchfield will officiate.
