Obituary
Jean Mason McKeel Williams, 91, passed away March 20, 2020 at Ballentine Assisted Living. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Edna McKeel.
Graduated Granby High School in 1946 and began a long and distinguished career with civil service that lasted 50 years. She retired as a supervisor in 2001 from Atlantic Division Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Jean was a member of Miles Memorial Methodist Church and a secretary of the Miles Memorial Ashbury Fellowship Class. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and gathering with family and friends. She was affectionately referred to as “Nana” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Roy Williams, Jr.; brother, Marvin McKeel; and sister, Helen Peggy McKeel (Evangelyn) Gibbs. She is survived by one daughter, Donna Jean McClurg; three grandchildren, Stacy Brown and her husband, Philip, Tracy Williams and Jason McClurg and his wife, Rebecca; four great grandchildren, Brooke and Bailey Jean Brown and Tristan and Alyssa McClurg; one twin sister, Jane Welsch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date at Miles Memorial Methodist Church (Ocean View) in Norfolk.
