Joan Massey

Our family announces with sadness and love the passing of Joan Massey (nee Darling), on March 20, 2020, 8 weeks before her 100th birthday. She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Geneva) of Edmonton and Michael (Elaine Stepa) of St. Albert; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Vera of the USA and Betty of the UK. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; three brothers; and three sisters. Joan was born in London and married in 1941 during the blitz of WWII. In 1957 Joan and Alfred took the bold step of emigrating to Canada in order to provide a better life for their family. Joan lived a full, active and courageous life, was well respected and loved by her many friends, and was always willing to give of herself. She loved music, gardening, volunteering, and being of help to family and friends. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Capital Care Dickinsfield for their compassionate care. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
