Norma Edith McRaney Purvis, 95, of Belzoni, passed away peacefully at her home on March 23, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.<br /><br />Norma was born in Covington County, Mississippi on June 6, 1924 to Webb and Alva King McRaney. She was a faithful member of the First Methodist Church in Belzoni, with a strong faith in her God. She was a quiet, sweet, caring person, strong, and loving person, a steel magnolia. She loved to talk daily to her friends on the phone, sharing and laughing about what was going on around the community. Those who lived around considered her to be one of the best neighbors and have fond memories. Norma worked as a salesperson in Ann's Gift Shop, and Gorton's Drug Store. Her sweet smile and sparkling eyes will be missed by many.<br /><br />Norma Purvis was preceded in death by her parents, Webb and Alba McRaney, her loving husband, Jack Purvis and son, Jimmy Purvis. Left behind, with their fond memories of her, are her son John M. Purvis (Lora) of Belzoni, her sister, Linda McKinstry (Sam) of the Mossy Lake community, her pride and joy, grandchildren Dansby Purvis of Belzoni, Brannon Purvis of Inverness, and Leah Walcott of Hernando, plus her great-grandchildren Christian Walcott, Caleb, Madelyn Purvis, Walcott, Cason Purvis, Jack Purvis, Lila Williams, Daisy Williams, and Sunny Williams, and a host of friends,<br /><br />Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Belzoni City Cemetery. Reverends Howard Tucker and Richard Wiman will officiate. <br /><br />Mortimer Funeral of Belzoni has been entrusted with the arrangements. <br />
