Olga Fediash Obituary

Olga Fediash September 12, 1919 ~ March 20, 2020 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved “Baba” Olga Fediash. Baba passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on Friday, March 20, 2020 in Prince Albert, SK. Olga was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Olga was born on September 12, 1919 in the St. Julian district of SK. to Dmytro and Anna (nee Dutchak) Michayluk. Olga was the second eldest of eight children. Baba would tell stories of how hard she and her sisters and one brother would work on the farm, but also how much fun they had together. The bond they shared could be seen through the years observed by their children, grandchildren and some great-grandchildren. Olga was married to Joseph Fediash on October 17, 1948 in St. Julian and resided on the farm until Joseph’s passing in 1979. Olga then moved to Prince Albert, SK. Olga and Joseph had two children Lesia (Adam Balicki) and Morris Fediash. Lesia and Adam had two children Jennifer (Brian Nykiforuk) and Mathew (Stefanie Gerein). Brian and Jennifer have two children Brayden and Jordana and Mathew and Stef have a daughter Aubree. Olga was a dedicated member to the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church and cherished her time there. Olga’s pastime was spent in her garden and pinching perogies for her grandchildren. Olga’s grandchildren would often help her in the garden and making perogies. Baba would often say “it’s ok you are still learning”, which meant the rows were not straight and the perogies would break open. Olga enjoyed travelling with her family, and not one to be left alone she even went on the Run Away Roller Coaster in Disney Land with her grandchildren. Olga is survived by her son-in-law Adam Balicki, grandchildren Jennifer and Mathew, and great grand-children Brayden, Jordana and Aubree, her sisters Kay Nalywayko and Elsie Samyka, sister-in-law Helen (nee Shutiak) Michayluk, and numerous nieces and nephews. Olga is predeceased by her husband Joseph Fediash, daughter Lesia Balicki, and son Morris Fediash, sister Emily (Paul Missura), sister Mary (Nick Uhryn), sister Doris (Morris Kulyk), sister Anne (Kaziemer Pidskalny), brother Paul Michayluk, brother-in-law Alex Nalywayko, brother-in-law Morris Samyka, and parents Dmytro and Ann Michayluk. Date and time of services will be announced at a later date due to the current health restrictions. In lieu of other tributes please make all donations to the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church in Prince Albert, SK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
