Ricky Lee Shortle

Ricky Lee Shortle, 62, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. He was born in Euclid, OH to William and Elizabeth Shortle. Raised in Mayfield Village, Ricky's father was the Chief of Police. After high school, Ricky joined the United States Marine Corp from 1974 to 1978. After his enlistment was complete, he moved to Vero Beach, FL. Ricky began working for Robert E. McAdams as a Private Boat Captain and Caretaker. Ricky met Mary Ellen Gavel in the late 1980's, the two would marry and raise her sons together in Vero Beach, FL. He was a member of the Highpoint Community Church in Vero Beach, FL. Ricky loved his family, his community and his work as a Captain. He loved to restore and refinish antiques and he loved to play billiards. Ricky was predeceased by his parents William and Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife of 33 years MaryEllen Shortle; son's: Derrick Hylton & David Hylton; brother: Terry Shortle; sisters: Cindi Miller & Jodi Shortle and five grandchildren. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made in Ricky's name to VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, FL. There are no services planned at this time in respect to the shut down for the US covid-19 and Easter. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to All County Funeral Home & Crematory- Treasure Coast Chapel.

My heart aches. You were the big brother that I didn't have, you tried your best to teach me to water ski and teased me and made me blush. At such a young age, you were my first crush ( I think you knew that). Rest in peace Ricky. You were loved and will be missed.
