Robert LaCoure Obituary

Robert Delton LaCoure Sr, 84, died at his home on Lake Conroe in Montgomery,Texas, on March 20, 2020. He had fought a valiant battle against heart disease and most recently congestive heart failure. Born to Freeman (Manny) LaCoure and Ella Louis McGlothin, on April 9, 1935 in Zimmerman Louisiana. Robert along with all of his siblings were born at home and had no birth certificates. He would oftentimes say that the year of his birth was not exactly known and that was the closest estimate he had. Robert is survived by two sons: Robert Delton LaCoure Jr (Bobby) and wife Deborah of Conroe, Texas and Jess Daniel LaCoure Sr (Butch/JD) and wife Janet of Rogers, Texas. Three grandchildren: Stephanie (Renee) Tubbs and husband Matt of Belton, Texas; Jess Daniel LaCoure Jr (Jess) and wife Carol of Temple, Texas; Robert Delton LaCoure III (Rob) and wife Ashley of Spring,Texas. He was blessed with seven great grandchildren: Shelby, Mackenzie, Lucas, Jess III, Robert IV (Delton), Keatyn and Colt. His youngest brother Jack Lewis LaCoure of Spring,Texas. A Sister-in-law Debra Lecaur of Houston, Texas. As well as many loved nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife of many years, Drewsendia Grace Reader (Drew). Drew passed ahead of him in 2011 and just the day before his passing Robert stated that “he was going to be with Drew in the mountains”. Robert is also preceded in death by his parents and three of four siblings: Eunave Marie (Bootsie) Lacour Graham, Mandy Lee Lacour McNeely, Daniel Freeman Lecaur. Robert completed the 2nd grade and started the 3rd grade in Alexandria Louisiana. Armed with only that small amount of formal education, he became a very successful entrepreneur. His first work experience came from shining shoes in New Orleans as a very young boy. He came to Houston, Texas when he was about 12 years old and made it his home. Robert started his lifetime of being a business owner in the late 1950’s, opening Robert’s Garage and Welding Shop on McCarty Drive in Houston. During the 1960’s, Robert changed his business operations and opened National Truck & Equipment Co at 1700 McCarty Drive in Houston, Texas, selling used semi-trucks, parts and repairs. The love he had for working and making deals was evident in all the stories that he shared. Robert spent the later part of his life leasing commercial property that he owned in Houston, Texas as RDL Investment Co. Let us all find peace in knowing that Robert stated many times, “I have done everything in life that I wanted to, and I have no regrets.” Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and for the safety of our family and friends a memorial service will be held at a later date.
