William L. Cameron Obituary

William L. Cameron, 66 of Altamont, died at 7:32 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2016 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont with Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Kevin and Sarah Witt Mission Fund in care of St. Paul E.L.C.A. or the donor’s choice. Bill was born on April 1, 1950 in Vandalia, IL to Theodore and Juanita (Chapin) Cameron. He married Joyce Ann Wurl on April 17, 1971. He was retired from World Color Press after 30 years and was currently employed with the Altamont Community School District Unit #10 as a custodian where he truly enjoyed working with the teacher and especially the children. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he had been an usher for over 40 years. He loved working with his hands. He is survived by: his wife of over 45 years, Joyce Cameron of Altamont; daughters, Valerie (Fred) Ault of Altamont and Sarah (Kevin) Witt of Botswana, Africa; brothers, Robert (Dannielle) Cameron of Chicago and David (Dorothy) Cameron of St. Elmo; sisters, Melodee (Jack) Jenkins of Granite City and Bernita Cameron of St. Elmo and his 5 beloved grandkids; Alexus Rhianne Ault, Austin Frederick Joseph Ault, Andrew Nathaniel Witt, Piper Grace Witt, and Isaac William Witt.
