Katherine Hagerman Lamphier

Katherine H. Lamphier, of Kentwood, Michigan, died on March 20, 2020. Katherine was born on September 7, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Melvin (Jerry) and Joan (Weber) Dunn. She received her MFA from Western Michigan University. She taught in the English department at Western Michigan University until she retired to raise her daughter in South Haven. Katherine had a gift for elegant prose, even in the most mundane of correspondence. She was a voracious reader of challenging literature. Art sparked all manner of emotions in her—joy, sorrow, and awe. Perhaps most of all, she was always curious and appreciative of those who shared her inquisitiveness. Katherine is survived by her husband, Jeff, her daughter, Elizabeth, her brothers Gary Dunn and David Dunn, several aunts, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends, and her cat Laika and grandkit Gabby. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Mark Hagerman, and several aunts and uncles. She was also preceded in death by many treasured dogs and cats who she loved deeply.
