Lewie Edwin Shealy

Lewie Edwin Shealy, 68, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020. He was born in Saluda, SC to Richard Voight Shealy and Lynette Kirkland Shealy. Lewie graduated from Saluda High School in 1969 and Newberry College in 1974, where he was a member of The Kappa Alpha Order. He remained an energetic supporter of Newberry College and the Delta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha. After college, Lewie began a successful career in insurance. His career took him to Germany for several years where his daughter, Christina, was born. He then moved to Savannah, GA where he continued in the insurance business for the next 25 years. He served on the Savannah Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, 3 years as president. He served as the Alumni President of the Delta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha at Newberry College and was a member of The Loyal Order and The Court of Honor. Lewie was an avid golfer known for his vibrant personality, his sense of humor, and his care for others. He was a wonderful father, brother, son, and grandfather. He will be missed by a wide circle of friends and extended family who admired and loved him dearly. He is survived by his brother, Robert Voight Shealy, and his daughter Christina Ann Zanoff and husband John Parker Zanoff. His beloved young granddaughters, Amelia Mae Zanoff and Evelyn Marie Zanoff, were among the greatest joys of his life. “Be young, be foolish, but be happy” A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be sent to Newberry College, 2100 College Street, Newberry SC 29108 or the Delta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha at Newberry College.
