Patricia "Pat" McConkey Obituary

Patricia Ann “Pat” McConkey, age 81, of Oakland IL, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Pat was born November 27, 1938 in Isabel, IL to Joseph Roscoe Elam and Mildred Anita (Dennison) Elam. She married Robert Arthur McConkey on December 5, 1954 in Borton, IL. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. Pat worked at Calloway’s Meat Market and Oakland Feed & Seed, and later owned and operated Bob & Pat’s Service Station in Oakland for over 15 years. She was the creator of Pat’s Famous Fudge, spent many years volunteering for the Corn & Bean Festival, helped with the town Christmas decorations for over 5 years, and attended Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church. She was an avid Illini basketball fan, and dearly loved her friends and family. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Ronald Elam, and one sister: Ella Jane Elam. She is survived by her husband; three children: Debbie Hardin of Tuscola, IL; Robin Ray of Tuscola, IL; and Dale McConkey of Oakland, IL; one brother: Dennis Elam of Paris, IL; a sister-in-law: Caroline Elam of Oakland, IL; five grandchildren: Misty (David) Manning of Grandview, IL; Jason (Amber) Skinner of Pickneyville, IL; Josh Addis of Hartford, Kentucky, Alisha (Matt) Shinn of Tuscola, IL; and Holden (Kaila) McConkey of Chatham, IL; one niece: Mindy Elam of Oakland, IL; and ten great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held. A public celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Krabel Funeral Home for the benefit of the family.
