Sylvia Maxine McCarthy Obituary

Sylvia Maxine McCarthy

Our family would like to share that our mom, Sylvia Maxine McCarthy, aka Mama Max, finished her journey and stepped into heaven at 7:23pm Friday March20,2020, as she listened to her favorite song, Holy Ground. Though we are saddened and will miss her greatly, we celebrate her life, love and kindness that she touched each of us with. She lived as a true example of God’s love and generosity to each person in her life. Her genuine smile, endless southern hospitality and sayings (ie. Fine as frog hair, doodle bug, better than snuff and not half as dusty, etc.) made her unforgettable. Paula, Bryan and I, along with our families, thank each of you for your prayers, hospitality and encouragement over the last few weeks. It was a source of great strength to our mom and to us. She will be missed and her legacy will live on. Sylvia Maxine McCarthy,83, of Rahway passed away March 20, 2020 in the Center for Hope Scotch Plains, NJ. Born in Greer, SC she came to Rahway many years ago. She was employed as the secretary for the Oasis Christian Center in Rahway for many years. Mrs. McCarthy was predeceased by her husband Paul Frederick McCarthy in 1986. Surviving are her children Paul Frederick McCarthy II, Paula and Bryan, she was also loved by her grandchildren and the Church Community.
