Skip Hendricks

October 4, 1946 – March 20, 2020 Skip Hendricks, age 73 of Pennsville, beloved Husband, Dad, Pop and friend passed away peacefully March 20, 2020. Skip was born in Salem, NJ in 1946, the son of the late Marshall and Bessie Hendricks (nee Pew). He graduated from Salem High School in 1965. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years Linda (nee Anthony), son David (Lisa) of Pipersville, PA, daughter Heather of Carneys Point and grandchildren Kyle and Megan. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Doc Gardner. Skip's greatest joy in life was coaching or attending the various sports and activities of his kids and grandchildren. Over the years, Skip was actively involved in the community with Pennsville Soccer, Wrestling, Little League, Elsinboro VFW Post #253, Pennsville VFW Post #1952 Auxiliary and The NJ Run for the Fallen. As President of the HG McCully Downstate Chapter #81 of the Telephone Pioneers of America he founded and ran the Sports Jamboree, a weekend of fun activities for physically and visually impaired children, for more than 20 years. His service with the Telephone Pioneers resulted in Skip being nominated and inducted into the Kentucky Colonels, the highest title of honor bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky. It is recognition of an individual's noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to the community, state and nation. Skip retired from Verizon after 35 years. Following his retirement, he and Linda traveled the country in their RV, ultimately seeing 46 of the 50 states making numerous friends everywhere they went. He was an avid sports fan who could be found at high school and college games or wrestling matches all over South Jersey and Delaware. Always quick to extend a helping hand, Skip will be missed by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, contributions can made in memory of Skip to The NJ Run for the Fallen, 27 Evergreen Drive South, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 or Pennsville VFW Post #1952 Auxiliary, 171 S Broadway, Pennsville, NJ 08070.
