June V. Sturm
HALIFAX- June Virginia Sturm (89), of Halifax passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Kepler Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elizabethville, PA. June was a faithful member of the Pleasant View Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved her work through the church serving people. Her favorite things were reading, cooking or preserving food during the harvest time. She was a farmer's wife for many years before selling their farm when her husband, Charlie became an electrician for Herre Brothers. Family was important to her and family picnics were summer rituals. She had worked in the Elizabethville dress factory as a seamstress until becoming a full-time stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed traveling and visited many national and state parks throughout the United States in the RV home. During these trips you could find the RV parked at family and friends homes for extended visits. June loved visiting the beaches in Florida collecting boxes of shells she placed throughout her home. She visited with her many church friends on trips. She loved her grand and great-grand children. She was always ready and willing to babysit and would have raised them all like her own children. For many years after her husband Charlie passed, June volunteered with a community service provider where she visited the sick, drove clients to doctor appointments, or cooked meals for those in need. She lived a quiet pleasant life in her small rural community, but her love for people was unwavering. She was preceded in death by her parents Hilbert and Margaret, her husband Charles, three brothers Russell, Jack and Claude, two sisters Faye and Grace and two step-grandchildren. Surviving are three sons Jerry, Neil and Darold; four daughters Sandra, Darlene, Paulette and Brenda; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother Benjamin; and sister Mary Lou. A life service for family and friends will be held at Pleasant View SDA Church, 2981 Armstrong Valley Road, Halifax, PA, on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 4 pm with Elder Joseph Weigley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pleasant View SDA Church, 2981 Armstrong Valley Road, Halifax, PA 17032-7740. Please note: June Sturm Memorial Chair Lift Fund.
